S.O.U.L. Scholarship Program

The Soul of the South Sports Foundation SOUL Scholarship Program supports graduating Louisiana high school student-athletes pursuing post-secondary education.

​

The program recognized recipients at three distinct levels -- S.O.U.L. Scholar, S.O.U.L. Merit, and S.O.U.L. Legacy -- based on verified academic achievement, leadership, involvement, service, and demonstrated impact.

​

Applicants complete one application and are automatically considered for the highest scholarship distinction for which they meet all requirements.

​

Scholarship amounts and the number of recipients may vary annually based on available funding and application volume.

How Scholarship Levels are Determined
Graduation Cap Display

​​

  • graduating senior with a 2.5 - 3.24 cumulative GPA and 20+ on ACT

  • Participation in a school-sponsored or recognized competitive sport, club, or organization during high school.

  • Acceptance to a college, university, technical/trade school, credential program, or other approved post-secondary program.​

  • At lease one documented team, work, church, or community involvement outside of school.

  • One recommendation from a coach, teacher, counselor, employer, or community leader.

S.O.U.L. Scholar

  • 3.25 - 3.49 cumulative GPA

  • at lease one documented leadership role OR two documented leadership contributions in athletics, school, employment, church, or a community organization.

  • participation in at least two school, team, work, church, or community activities during high school

  • one recommendation specifically addressing leadership, character, or academic achievement

  • essay demonstrating how the student has used leadership to positively influence others.

S.O.U.L. Merit

  • 3.5+ cumulative GPA

  • at least one leadership position or significant leadership responsibility

  • documented participation in community service or a service initiative

  • evidence of one specific leadership or service contribution that produced an identifiable result for a school, organization, or community.

  • two recommendations, including one that specifically verifies the applicant's leadership or community impact (with pictures)

  • essay identifying the applicant's contribution, what they did, who benefited, and what changed because of their involvment.

About This Scholarship

This award supports students pursuing higher education at accredited colleges, universities, community colleges, or trade programs. Recipients are selected based on academic readiness, leadership, and community impact.


ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior

  • Be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited institution.

  • Plan to enroll full-time

  • GPA verified through official transcript submission

  • Submit all required documentation by the given deadline

Academic Documentation

To be considered for the Soul of the South Sports Foundation S.O.U.L. Scholarship, applicants must upload official documentation verifying academic standing and enrollment status.


Documents must clearly display the applicant's name and institution. Illegible or incomplete documents may result in application disqualification.


Required Uploads

  1. Official Transcript (Required)

    Upload a current official or school-issued transcript showing cumulative GPA. Accepted formats: PDF preferred

  2. Proof of Acceptance or Enrollment (Required)

    Upload at least one of the following:

    1. College/University acceptance letter

    2. Enrollment verification

  3. Letter of evidence from community service

Final award disbursement is contingent upon verified enrollment at the instittion listed.
