About Natashia
Natashia Ogunyemi is an educator and school administrator who has spent her career working with students, teachers, and families. She is also a wife and mother of three, and her experiences raising her own children—particularly navigating athletics, recruiting, and college opportunities—have shaped how she thinks about access, preparation, and making sure young people have the information they need to move forward.
Why SOTS
For Natashia, the work of Soul of the South Sports is personal. She knows what it feels like to be a parent trying to figure things out along the way, and she wants students and families to have access to the information, resources, and opportunities they may not know to look for on their own.
Her S.O.U.L. | Opportunities
Knowing what’s available and how to pursue it.
Natashia believes opportunity is about more than something simply being available. Young people need to know it exists, understand what it takes, and know what to do next so they are prepared to pursue it when the opportunity comes.
Beyond the Title
Family
Natashia is a wife and mother of three. She says being a parent has taught her as much about leadership, patience, advocacy, and figuring things out as anything she has learned professionally.
Sports Connection
After years of cheering from the sidelines, Natashia says being a sports parent gave her an entirely different education. From navigating track recruiting with her oldest son to watching her youngest play college basketball, she has experienced firsthand just how much families are expected to learn while they are already in the middle of the process.
Something to Remember
“You don’t have to have your whole future figured out. You just need to keep learning, keep preparing, and be ready to move when the right opportunity comes.”
