About Amanda
Amanda Tingle began her career in education as a classroom teacher in 2004 and has spent more than two decades serving students and educators in a variety of roles. Throughout her career, she has served as a Reading Specialist, Instructional Coach, Master Teacher, and Math Coordinator. She currently serves as the Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for DeSoto Parish Schools, where she works to attract, support, and retain educators who make a difference in the lives of students.
Why Soul of the South Sports Foundation
As a former student-athlete, Amanda understands firsthand the opportunities that can be found beyond the classroom and the importance of knowing how to access them. She is honored to serve on the Soul of the South Sports Foundation Board as a way to give back to student-athletes who may not yet realize all of the opportunities available to them.
Her S.O.U.L. | Opportunity
The S.O.U.L. pillar that resonates most with Amanda is Opportunities. She believes it is important for students to understand what is accessible to them and to have the knowledge and support needed to pursue those opportunities and build their future.
Sports Connection
Born in Bossier City, Louisiana, Amanda grew up just across the Louisiana state line in the small community of Simms, Texas, where she attended James Bowie High School from kindergarten through 12th grade. She was a multi-sport athlete competing in cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, as well as a two-sport state champion in high school, competing in both powerlifting and track and field as well, and continued her athletic career at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana as a heptathlete.
Beyond the Title
Amanda is married to Damon Tingle, and they have one daughter, Macaylah, who is a cross country and track & field athlete at Northwestern State University. Her family and her own experiences as a student-athlete continue to strengthen her passion for helping young people recognize their potential and pursue opportunities beyond what they may initially see for themselves.
